another drawing attempt

After some tweaking I have come up with a design I get on with, so now I am trying to work on a dynamic picture for him. This helps me see if the design will work or not. Unfortunately I am struggling to draw him properly.

Research

I have given up on the idea doing armour, this character spent most of his time wandering around town or within the palace, and despite his fighting abilities doesn't fight that much at all. Fighting and challenges are more a form of entertainment that actual necessity.

Even if he isn't going to be fighting that often I still want to look at his weapons. I have been looking at fantasy sword blades designs, hilts, and other artists' designs which were intended for a game.

Design work

I have been working on his outfit and attempted to do a final design for him. I am not entirely happy with it yet. His clothings are almost finished, but I am not happy with his weapon nor his physical design yet.

Danel face issues

I have been strugling with his face the most so far, I'm unsure what I should do with his facial feature, whether I should make them more subtle or more exaggerated.
A big part of my frustration is my inability to draw faces the way I intend them to look.
I am also unsure of his hair, if I give him neat tied up hair similar to that of his opposite, his appearence would no longer reflect his personality.

This is the opposite character I am referring to.

Danel early work

Research

I knew from the start I wanted to do a medieval type of character so I chose to work on one of my underdeveloped characters from a webcomic story I had been working on.
Within the story, the Realm is ruled by one higher being and two princes who respectively are in charge of one half of the realm.

I had already designed one of the princes and had been strugling with the second, so I want to use this as an opportunity to work on him for this project.

With the theme being placed in the Middle Ages, most of my research is going to be based on the warriors and royalty of that time. However I want to keep a form of fantasy within the theme so I will look at other games with a similar theme for ideas.

Unsure of what I really want this character to be, I know I want him to be some form of warrior but I don't want it to be directly obvious from the first encounter. As I want to design him in his casual outfit for now heavy armours are out of the question.

As his opposite counterpart uses daggers, magic and bows, I want to  make this character mostly a warrior using heavy duty weapons but keep some form of elegance. His opposite is mostly eccentric, wearing brightly coloured clothing and extravert in general. Since this character is mostly the opposite in personality and abilities I need to think of something darker but as equally extravagant. Swords would be my usual choice however I feel that a scythe would be more appropriate for this character. His clothing would be something more subdued and simple compared to his counterpart, however this character doesn't undestand the concept between good and evil.

I have considerend giving this character light armour, instead of heavy armour.

Drawings

I have thought about combining casual gowns and his armour. This would hightlight his high position, however at the same time he would be ready for combat.
However I felt this would be cumbersome and unpractical.

After some thought and inspired by recently played games I thought about doing an assassin type character.
When designing an assassin I often give them tight fitting clothing as for me it is a default design to turn to.
However I often give them a cloak to hide their body durring the day.
